TachyUsb – Android Application

Brief Description:

TachyUsb is an app for android 4.0 and later to be used with total stations. The program, written by the software engineer Thoralf Baum and the archaeologist Leif Steguweit, was specifically designed to help archaeologists and palaeontologists with data management in excavations. Data fields and notes are recorded together with each measure point in a convenient work flow.

PLEASE NOTE:

You need a special hardware to get this app connected to the total station.

See HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS below.

The program connects with several Leica total station models. Versions for other models from Topcon, Leica and Sokkia are forthcoming. For more information, see the program documentation (www.tachyusb.de).

Your measure data can be viewed or exported via our WEB front end.

Your Measure Data:

The data that is stored on your Android device is uploaded via the menu entry “Send Database…” in the main screen of the TachyUsb App.

Your measurement records are personalized with your e-mail address that has been provided to the app.

You access them via: http://www.tachyusb.de/index_data.php where you have to logon with the same e-mail address.

Hardware Requirements:

This version can connect to the total station only via an AOA RS232 adapter, e.g. Digitus DA-70160 (not to be confused with usual RS232-USB adapters!). Furthermore the AOA adapter needs an extra USB power supply (e.g. battery pack).

If you need assistance purchasing the hardware, please contact us: help@tachyusb.de.

The android device is connected via the Micro-USB jack with the RS232-AOA adapter and the Leica RS232 cable (9 pin jack).

A later version, expected until July 2014, will be able to utilize standard RS232-adapters as well as the Leica USB cable (requires the Android USB OTG feature on your device).
